■Research/International Development Unit

　This unit promotes world-class research in the humanities and social sciences through collaboration with researchers and institutions both domestically and internationally. It aims to establish the world's largest network for Japanese Studies, integrating the empirical research approach that has flourished within Japan with the perspective and framework-oriented approaches to Japanese Studies that have been valued overseas.

■Digital Archive Research Unit

　Working in conjunction with the "Tohoku University Digital Archives (ToUDA)," this unit integrates traditional humanities and social sciences research with data-driven approaches by applying researchers' questions to large-scale data analysis. Through the development of innovative digital technologies and artificial intelligence (AI), the unit aims to create a game-changing transformation in humanities and social sciences research.

■Knowledge and Communication Unit

　This unit facilitates matching for collaborative projects that advance scholarship in the humanities and social sciences, coordinates the social and international dissemination of research outcomes, develops public relations strategies, and arranges academic publications. Additionally, it designs new evaluation and monitoring metrics for the humanities and social sciences, promoting evidence-based research strategy planning and research activity assessment.
