"Japanese Studies Fellow Conference 2025" was successfully held.

Nov.12.2025
The Center for Integrated Japanese Studies (CIJS), in collaboration with the International Graduate Program in Japanese Studies and the Japan Foundation, held the Japanese Studies Fellows Conference on Saturday, November 8.

This conference was established as a gathering place for Japan Foundation Fellows (overseas scholars and researchers conducting Japan-related research) currently residing in Japan. This marked the first time the program held a conference outside so-called “central” regions like Tokyo and Kyoto, representing an important opportunity to examine Japan from a more multifaceted and comprehensive perspective.

On the day, over 100 participants gathered, centered around approximately 50 fellows engaged in Japanese studies across the nation, representing various research fields, fostering active exchange. From CIJS, Assistant Professors Wei Ran, Thairungroj Ajjana, and D’Amico John participated in the first panel session. They shared their latest research findings and engaged in lively discussions with the audience. In the second panel session, Associate Professor Kimi Akai and Assistant Professor Huang Tianyuan served as discussants.
