On Saturday, July 18, 2026, Vice Director Satoshi Kato and Specially Appointed Lecturer Shunpei Katakura from the Digital Archive and Research Unit of the Center for Integrated Japanese Studies (CIJS) spoke at the DH International Symposium, titled "Humanities Data Infrastructure in the Generative AI Era: Redesigning Incentives for Construction, Sharing, and Succession," held at Tokyo Big Sight.

This international symposium provided a platform for multidisciplinary discussions on the challenges and future prospects of building, sharing, and preserving humanities data infrastructure in light of the rapid developments in generative AI.

Representing the Tohoku University Archives, Specially Appointed Lecturer Katakura and Vice Director Kato delivered a presentation titled “ToUDA Tohoku University Archives Collection Renewal: Achievements and Challenges.” They shared insights into their ongoing deliberations and practical implementations regarding the development and utilization of the Tohoku University Digital Archive (ToUDA), engaging in a lively discussion with participants at the venue.
