The edited volume Explorers on Screen: Adventure! Danger! Romance!, co-edited by Sue Matheson and Cynthia J. Miller, has been published by Edinburgh University Press.

This academic volume offers multidisciplinary perspectives on how "explorers" and "adventure" have been depicted on screen and in cinema. Associate Professor Iris Haukamp (Media and Film Studies) from the Center for Integrated Japanese Studies (CIJS) contributed to the volume, authoring Chapter 19 (pp. 279–296).

Associate Professor Haukamp’s chapter, titled "‘The Impossible Comes to Screen’: Real and Reel Exploration in S.O.S. Iceberg (1933)," focuses on the 1933 film S.O.S. Iceberg to examine the boundaries and dynamics between fictional exploration on screen ("reel") and real-world exploration.
