[Online Workshop] "Translation in the Age of AI: Dharmamitra for Translator Workflows"

Jul.02.2026

The international online workshop "Translation in the Age of AI: Dharmamitra for Translator Workflows" will be held, co-organized by the Tsadra Foundation and Dharmamitra—a machine translation platform for classical Asian languages led by Assistant Professor Sebastian Nehrdich at the Center for Integrated Japanese Studies (CIJS).

This workshop aims to bridge the translation and philology of Buddhist texts with cutting-edge digital humanities infrastructure. It offers an overview of the "MITRA framework," a next-generation ecosystem for Buddhist translation support, along with its current capabilities, real-world case studies, and an outlook on future agentic-driven translation workflows.

The program consists of two sessions. In addition to an introduction to MITRA and its ecosystem vision by Assistant Professor Nehrdich, the event will feature practical discussions including collaborative case studies and a review of materials brought by participants.

We look forward to the participation of anyone interested in the academic utilization of AI and state-of-the-art translation technologies, including translators, Buddhist studies scholars, philologists, and software developers in the field of Digital Humanities.
