The Center for Integrated Japanese Studies (CIJS) at Tohoku University will host a two-day international workshop, "OCR AND BEYOND," on March 28 (Sat) and 29 (Sun). The workshop focuses on the intersection of philology and digital archives in the age of AI.
The sessions will explore cutting-edge computer-aided annotation workflows, including Sanskrit studies utilizing Generative AI, the digitization of Tibetan, Nepalese, and Japanese Esoteric Buddhist texts, and the construction of structured corpora. We welcome participants from both within and outside the university who are interested in Digital Humanities and the academic application of AI.
