Professor Satoshi Kato (Center Vice Director, Head of Digital Archive Research Unit) has co-authored  a new book titled "日本における総合大学制の成立過程と東北大学" (Tohoku University and the Establishment of the Comprehensive University System in Japan).

This work explores the historical development of the "Comprehensive University" system in modern Japan, with a particular focus on the trajectory of Tohoku Imperial University (the predecessor of Tohoku University). By examining how the institution evolved from a fragmented structure into a unified comprehensive university, the book provides essential insights into the institutional history of higher education in Japan.
